The 2011 NZVA Conference was a great success. Check out some photos of the event

The 2011 NZVA Conference is the leading continuing education event for the New Zealand veterinary profession. It’s also the largest multidisciplinary veterinary conference in New Zealand with 12 NZVA Special Interest Branches in attendance. This makes it ideal for delegates who work across several disciplines, and means there’s more choice than ever.

In 2011 delegates will come from around the country (and the world) to the NZVA Conference being held in Hamilton, New Zealand. It will be an opportunity to network with friends and colleagues, plus update your skills across a full range of veterinary activities. The conference will also  feature a comprehensive industry exhibition showcasing the latest equipment and technology.

To add to the excitement, 2011 is World Veterinary Year, so the conference will be an historic event celebrating the past, present and future of the veterinary profession.

CONFERENCE NEWS

Firstly, our hearts and thoughts go out to everyone affected - directly or indirectly - by the tragedy unfolding in Christchurch.

We received a media release from the Christchurch venue on Thursday 24 February advising us that preliminary assessments of the venues have confirmed structural damage to Christchurch Convention Centre and the Christchurch Town Hall.  More detailed assessments are now required over the coming weeks.  We have also received confirmation from surrounding hotels that there is structural damage to their premises and at the time of writing this they do not know when they will be allowed back into the CBD to undertake detailed assessments.  The decision to move the NZVA Conference has not been taken lightly and the decision made was done with due consideration to the city of Christchurch.

We have considered the damage to the venue, hotels, the surrounding CBD and responses received from each SIB.  We agree it is in the best interest of the NZVA Conference to move it to Hamilton.  To ensure we support the business community of Christchurch we will still be using as many suppliers as possible in Hamilton that we would have used in Christchurch. 

The NZVA Conference will now be held at the Claudelands Conference and Exhibition Centre, Hamilton on the same dates, 21-24 June 2011.
